Elmer Stampka, 90, Jamestown, ND died Sunday evening September 2, 2007 at the Central Dakota Village in Jamestown, ND.

Elmer Stampka was born December 18, 1916 near Fried, ND, the son of Frank and Mary (Kaiser) Stampka. He attended the local rural school in Ashland Township where he received his elementary education and grew to manhood in the vicinity.

He and Marion Reeck were married August 17, 1943 at Portland, OR. He was employed as Lead Foreman and Inspector at the Kaiser Shipyard. They returned to Jamestown in 1945 where he was employed by Everett Construction and the Noel Construction Company until 1956. He began farming and continued to farm until his retirement in 1972. They continued to reside on the farm until 1994 when they moved into Jamestown.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fried, later becoming a member of the Basilica of St. James. He was also a life member of the Jamestown Elks Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Marion, Jamestown, ND, his nieces, nephews, and a special friend, Jerome Cysewski.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Frank and Vincent, 4 sisters, Susan Klose, Mary Kachel, Cecilia Simmons, Caroline Scheiderich, 2 half brothers, James and Kenneth Waitman.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday September 6, 2007 at the Basilica of St. James, Jamestown, ND, with Father Al Bitz, pastor officiating.

The interment will be made in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Fried, ND.

Visitation- 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. Wednesday @ the funeral home
