Edna Maier, 95, formerly of Streeter, ND died Sunday evening February 17, 2013 at the Napoleon Care Center in Napoleon, ND.
Edna Schnaidt was born January 3, 1918 at Napoleon, ND, the daughter of John and Christina (Kranzler) Schnaidt. She moved to Temvik, ND when she was 2 years old. In 1925 she moved to Napoleon to live with her grandparents, Christina and Philip Werth. She received her elementary education at the local rural school.
She and Gottlieb Maier met at a barn dance and were married April 24, 1937 at Linton, ND. They made their home in Hazelton, ND. In 1944 they moved to Streeter. After the death of her husband in 1996, she continued to reside in Streeter. She entered the Gackle Care Center in May of 2010 and the Napoleon Care Center in December of 2010.
She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, Streeter Senior Center, actively involved in the Streeter Buffalo Supper. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed embroidery and cross stitch; her white embroidered dish towels are the best.
She is survived by 1 son, Allen (Marge) Maier, Bismarck, ND; 3 daughters, Carolynn (James) Burkle, Eagan, MN; Beverly (Arnie) Schumaker, Jamestown, ND; Paulette (Steve) Kirschenmann, Streeter; 21 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 6 children, Joan Miller; twins Janice and James; Alice Remboldt; Caren Hehn; Roger Maier; 1 granddaughter, Heidi Maier and 1 great granddaughter, Drew Miller.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Friday February 22, 2013 at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Streeter, ND, with Rev. Susan Anderson, officiating.
The interment will be at the Streeter Cemetery in Streeter, ND in the spring.
