Edna Hofmann, 87, Ellendale, ND died Sunday afternoon November 20, 2005 at the Prince of Peace Care Center at Ellendale, ND.
Edna Hoff was born October 8, 1918 at Vanada, MT, the daughter of Christ Hoff and Eva (Hertel) Hoff. At an early age she moved with her parents to McLaughlin, SD where she attended elementary school, later moving to Oriska, ND where she finished her elementary education and grew to womanhood in the vicinity.
She and Edward Hofmann were married December 20, 1936 at Valley City, ND. They made their home at Oriska for about 6 months, before moving to Medina, ND where they started farming. She worked at the Medina School as a cook from 1957 until 1965. She then worked as a cook at Big Jims in Jamestown. In 1968 she went to work at Hi-Acres Manor in Jamestown as Food Supervisor until her retirement in 1981. In 1997 they moved to Jamestown. Following the death of her husband June 30, 2003 she continued to reside in Jamestown. In November of 2004 she entered the Hi-Acres Manor and in September of 2005 she entered the Prince of Peace Care Center at Ellendale.
She was a member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Jamestown, and served as Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Secretary, and Treasurer, and also a 4-H leader.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Mae Hofmann, Ellendale, ND; 1 daughter-in-law, Dorothy Hofmann, San Jose, CA; 6 grandchildren, Twilla (Larry) Poli, San Jose, CA; Mitchell Hofmann, San Jose, CA; Tina Hofmann, Corona, CA; Terry Hofmann, Livermore, CA; Trinka (Mike) Lumley, Stockton, CA; Lynnette Jacobson, Jamestown, ND; 10 great grandchildren, 5 brothers and 3 sisters, Walter (Opal) Hoff, all of Bismarck, ND; Herbert Hoff, Harold (Shirley) Hoff, Julius Hoff, Ella Duffy, all of Valley City, ND; Hertha (Verner) Carlson, Miles City, MT; Alvera Rayty, Sun City, AZ; and Howard Hoff, Billings, MT.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 1 son, LeRoy, 3 brothers and 1 sister.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 P. M. Saturday November 26, 2005 at the St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Jamestown, ND, with Pastor Gary Ball-Kilbourne and Rev. David Fisher, officiating.
The interment will be made in the Medina Cemetery at Medina, ND.
