Earl Lee, 89, Jamestown, ND died early Sunday morning January 21, 2007 at the Jamestown Hospital in Jamestown, ND.

Earl August Lee was born April 12, 1917 south of Jamestown, ND, the son of John Lee and Frances (Klose) Lee. He attended the local rural school where he received his elementary education and grew up in the vicinity working on the family farm South of Jamestown. He entered the United States Army on January 16, 1942 at Fort Snelling, MN. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and was discharged on October 25, 1945 at Fort Lewis, WA, with the rank of Corporal.

He and Caroline Deuitch were married November 19, 1951 in Jamestown, ND. They made their home on the family farm South of Jamestown until they moved into Jamestown in 1956. He worked for John Deere as a mechanic, the Elks Club, and TULOMA Propane. In 1981 they moved back to the farm for his retirement. He loved music and spent most of his time playing polka music on his guitar and banjo. He recorded an album with the Frank Schardin Orchestra dance band and had the chance during his career as a musician to perform with the band in North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana and Minnesota as well as performing on stage with Frankie Yankovic in Bismarck, ND. He also performed with the band on television and other public appearances.

He was a member of the Elks No. 995, V.F.W. and the Eagles Aerie 2337 all in Jamestown, ND. He enjoyed gardening, wood working, machining and playing music.

He is survived by his wife, Caroline, Jamestown, ND, 4 children,
Linda (Ken) Attleson, West Fargo, ND; Larry (Diane) Lee, Jamestown, ND;
Lonny (Carol) Lee, Chesapeake, VA; Lorne Lee, Suffolk, VA; 3 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Kathryn Doyle, Seattle, WA; Gladys (Thomas) Caulfield, Indianapolis, IN; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Harold, Lloyd and John Jr.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Friday January 26, 2007 in Atonement Lutheran Church in Jamestown, ND with Rev. Chester Grogan and Pastor Steven Berntson, officiating.

Interment will be made in the Sunset Memorial Gardens at Jamestown, ND.
Funeral arrangements are by the Haut Funeral Homes in Jamestown, ND.

Visitation - 9-5 Wednesday and 9-9 Thursday at the Funeral Home.

Prayer Service - 7:30 PM Thursday at the Funeral Home
