Dorothy Lucile Haffner Young, 89, of Twin Falls, died at her home Sunday, Aug. 26, 2007.
Dorothy was born March 1, 1918, at Pocatello, Idaho, the daughter of Christ C. and Frederica Sandau Haffner. She was baptized on April 13, 1925, at Wishek, N.D. Dorothy married Reinhold Schlittenhard on Sept. 10, 1935, at Fullerton, N.D. To this union was born four children, Walter, Joyce, Betty and Sharon. Reinhold passed away on Nov. 15, 1973, at the age of 65. She worked at the State Hospital in Jamestown, N.D, for approximately 18 years, becoming ward manager. She was awarded as the aide of the year and received the 1968 Certificate of Achievement, Devotion and Skill to the Handicapped and Mentally Ill. In 1974, she received her GED. Dorothy married Ernest W. Young on April 12, 1975, at Bismarck, N.D., and they moved to Twin Falls in 1976.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Reinhold Schlittenhard; her second husband, Ernest W. Young; four brothers; two sisters; and a stepson, Ernest W. young Jr. She is survived by three daughters, Joyce Peterson of Twin Falls, Betty Stabenow of Binford, N.D., and Sharon Reinhold of Pacific, Wash.; a son, Walter Schlittenhard of Twin Falls; two stepdaughters, Shirley Roemmich of Steel, N.D., and Patricia Carmen of Bismarck, N.D.; three stepsons, Robert V. Young of Hulvelton, N.Y., Robert E. Young of Guthrie, Okla., and Ernest W. Young; two brothers, William Haffner of Twin Falls and Howard Haffner of Kulm, N.D.; and two sisters, Virginia Grewatz of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Ella Massie of Twin Falls. She has many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday September 4, 2007 at the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown, ND.
The interment will be made in the Sunset Memorial Gardens at Jamestown, ND.
