Donald Kvislen, Sr.86, Jamestown, ND died Wednesday June 2, 2010 at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown, ND.

Donald Kvislen was born April 13, 1924 at Sanborn, ND, the son of Adolph Kvislen and Edna (Amundson) Kvislen. He received his elementary education at the Sanborn School and graduated in 1942 from Sanborn High School. He then moved to Lockheed, LA.

He entered the United States Air Force June 9, 1943 at Ft. Snelling MN and served with the 8th Air Force in Western Europe.

He and Irma Mueller were married December 1, 1944 in Jamestown, ND. They made their home in Kingmon, AZ and Las Vegas, NV. He was honorably discharged October 20, 1945 at Las Vegas, NV with the rank of Sergeant.

Following World War II they returned to Jamestown, ND where he operated a taxi service and owned his own gas station. He later had a sodding business with Jim Goodroad. In 1955 he became employed by the Post Office as a letter sorter and retired in 1989.After the death of his wife in in1999 he continued to reside in Jamestown.

He married Helen Pfaff October 13, 2003 in Jamestown, ND. They made there home in Jamestown, ND.

Don enjoyed being with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He was also a great story teller

He attended the Assembly of God church in Jamestown, ND. He was also a member of the Eagles and VFW.

Don is survived by his wife Helen, Jamestown, ND; 1 daughter, Kathy Kvislen, Jamestown, ND; 2 sons, Kent (Janet) Kvislen, Mankato, MN; Kyle (Carolyn) Kvislen, Bismarck, ND; 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; 2 step children, Dawn (John) Wisinewski, Joppa, MD; Brian (Gina) Peller, Belair, MD; 5 step grandchildren, and 1 sister, Dorothy Pederson, Bismarck, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Irma and 1 son Donald Kvislen, Jr, 1 brother and 3 sisters.

The Memorial service will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday June 7, 2010 at the United Presbyterian Church in Jamestown, ND with Pastor Dave Thompson, officiating.

The interment will be made in the Highland Home Cemetery in Jamestown, ND.
