Diane Walker, 70, Gackle, ND died early Thursday morning June 5, 2014 at Essential Health in Fargo, ND.

Diane Gumke was born March 13, 1944 at Jud, ND the daughter of Andrew R. Gumke and Alma (Elhard) Gumke. At an early age she moved with her family to Illinois where she complete her elementary education and graduated from high school in Lockport, IL.

She and Mike Walker were married August 3, 1963 in Illinois. They made their home in Lamont, IL where she worked for a local bank. In 1981 she returned to Gackle where she owned and operated the Gackle Tastee Freeze. In 1982 she became employed at the ND State Hospital in Jamestown where she worked as a clerk in the payroll department until her retirement in 2006.

She was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gackle, ND. She enjoyed reading, Crocheting, Gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, Michelle Hehr, Neal (Heidi) Walker, and Melissa (Greg) Lunzman, all of Jamestown, ND, 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 3 sisters and 2 brothers, Judy Thomas, Fresno, CA, Carol Muller, Gackle, ND, Donna (Leon) Phillips, Lockport, IL; Wayne (Louanne) Gumke, Jamestown, TN; Ken (Shar) Gumke, Jamestown, ND, and 1 brother-in-law, Conrad Gordon, Lockport, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 sister Peggy.

Funeral Service - 10:30 AM Tuesday June 10, 2014 in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gackle, ND with Rev. Rick Steele, pastor

Interment - Gackle Cemetery, Gackle, ND

Visitation - 9-11AM Monday at the Haut Funeral Home in Jamestown and 1-8 at the Haut Funeral home in Gackle
