Deloris Pelz

Deloris Pelz, 87, Jamestown, ND passed away Tuesday evening July 19, 2016 at Eventide in Jamestown, ND after a short battle with cancer.

Deloris Meisch was born August 16, 1928 on the Meisch family farm located NW of Streeter, ND the daughter of William Meisch and Esther (Weisser) Meisch. She attended the local rural school near Streeter where she received her elementary education and grew to womanhood in the vicinity where she helped on the family farm. She worked with her brother Bill, herd the 2000 sheep that roamed the hills of the farm, and learned how to cook wonderful meals and baked treats from her Mother.

She and Gideon Stelzer were married November 28, 1945. They made their home on the Stelzer family farm SE Streeter where Deloris milked cows, raised beef cattle and harvested small grain crops with her husband until 1972. They sold the farm and moved to Jamestown. Gideon died suddenly on December 16, 1972. She continued to live in Jamestown where she worked at the ND State Hospital and Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home.

She and Harlan Pelz were married in August of 1982 at Jamestown, ND. They made their home in Jamestown and she continued to work. She also worked at Sunshine Laundry Center. She retired in 1983. Harlan passed away on May 24, 2016.

Almost every afternoon Deloris could be found at Hardee's in Jamestown, sitting in the corner booth visiting and playing cards with her friends. She also enjoyed word search puzzles, playing bingo and going to casinos.

Surviving are her daughters, Bonnie (Don) Nelson and Geneva Kaiser, all of Jamestown, ND, 2 grandchildren, Chris Nelson and Savanna Sprouse, and 1 great granddaughter, Brianna.

She was preceded death by her parents, her husbands and 1 brother, William.

Memorial Service will be held 10:00 AM Monday July 25, 2016 in the G.L. Riffe Memorial Chapel (Eventide Chapel) in Jamestown, ND with Hospice Chaplin Kathleen Heller, officiating.

Burial will take place in the Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, ND.
