David Schmidt

David Schmidt, 88, Jamestown, ND died Saturday evening July 2, 2005 at his home in Jamestown, ND.

David was born January 28, 1917 at the family farm home NW of Streeter, ND the son of Ludwig (Louie) Schmidt and Katherina (Graf) Schmidt. He received his elementary education in the local rural school in Graf Township. He graduated from the Steele High School in 1938. He then attended Capitol Commercial College in 1939.

He and Alice Rivinius were married April 5, 1941 at Jamestown, ND. They made their home on a farm SE of Tappen later South of Streeter, ND. In 1944 they moved to a farm South of Medina until 1953 when they moved into Steele where he worked at the Bank of Steele. In 1955 they returned to the farm where they resided until 1977 when they moved into Jamestown, ND. He worked for Easy Sales, Inc., Haybusters Mfg. and Thompson Motor Home Sales until 1981. They have continued to reside in Jamestown.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Medina and later joined the Evangelical Church in Jamestown.

He is survived by his wife Alice, Jamestown, ND, 1 daughter, Sharon (Mark) Christopher, Medina, MN, 1 son, Durwin (Gayle) Schmidt, Medina, ND, 5 grandchildren, Karna Chistopher, Eric Christopher, Stephanie Hanson, Jeremy Schmidt, Jason Schmidt, 4 great grandchildren, Ellie and Taylor Crosby, and Calvin and Ethan Hanson, 1 sister, Cecelia Rivinius, Streeter, ND.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday July 6, 2005 in the United Methodist Church in Medina, ND with Rev. Clayton Scheaffer, officiating and Rev. Darwin Kopfmann, assisting.

The interment will be made in the Medina Cemetery, Medina, ND.

Arrangements are with the Haut Funeral Homes in Jamestown, ND.

Visitation - 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Funeral Home
