Carroll Hartley, 86, Jud, North Dakota died on Thursday afternoon August 11, 2005 at the Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center in Jamestown, ND.

Carroll Hartley was born February 21, 1919 at Garden City, South Dakota the son of Robert Hartley and Evelyn (Johnson) Hartley. In the fall of 1919 he moved with his parents to the Jud area. He attended the Jud Public School where he received his elementary education and grew to manhood in the vicinity. In the fall of 1937 he enlisted in the CCC's and was stationed in Middle River, Minnesota.

He and Loreyn Podoll were married October 1, 1940 at Ellendale, ND. They made their home on his parents farm until 1941 when they moved to the Cline farm and several other farms before buying their own land west of Jud. In 1952 they moved into Jud where they have resided. He entered Hi-Acres Manor in February of 2005.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church and belonged to the Choir for over 25 years. Carroll has driven school bus for 11 years, was a member of the Jud Fire Department and the Jamestown Eagles Club.

Surviving are his wife Loreyn, Jud, ND, 1 daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie (Donald) Robinson, Johnstown, CO, 2 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 11 step-great grandchildren, 1 brother, Lloyd (Ann) Hartley, Garden City, SD

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter LaVonne, 4 brothers and 1 sister.

Memorial Service will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday August 16, 2005 at the United Methodist Church in Jud, ND with Rev. Rodney Ulmer, officiating pastor.

Interment will be made in the Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, ND.
