Arthur E. Brooks, 82, Jamestown, ND died Saturday morning April 19, 2008 at the Jamestown Hospital in Jamestown, ND.

Art was born October 21, 1925 in Sinclair Township in Stutsman County, the son of John B. Brooks and Hulda (Kurtz) Brooks. He attended the local rural school where he received his elementary education and grew to manhood in the vicinity where he helped on the family farm.

He started working for Northern Pacific Railroad in 1946. He entered the US Army October 1, 1950 at Fargo, ND. He served in Germany until his discharge September 12, 1952 at Harrisburg, Penn with the rank of Cpl.

He and Frances I. Drake were married July 18, 1953 at Moorhead, MN. They made their home in Jamestown and continued to work with NP Railroad until his retirement in 1974 due to ill health.

He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Jamestown, ND. He also was a member of the VFW Post 760 and American Legion Post 14.

Surviving are his wife, Frances, one daughter and son-in-law, Debra K. Brooks (Jim Meunier); Apple Valley, MN, 1 son and daughter-in-law, Dale A. (Susan) Brooks, Glendive, MT, 2 grandchildren, Stephanie and Trevor. 4 brothers and 1 sister, Lucille Kolberg, Duluth, MN, Burnette (Daisie), Wilbert and Luxton, all of Jamestown, ND.

He was preceded in death by parents, 2 brothers, Raymond and Leslie.

Memorial Service will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday April 23, 2008 in the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown, ND with Rev. Eric Libby, officiating.

Interment will take place at later date in the Sunset Memorial Gardens.
