Ardena Elhard, 90, Jamestown, ND died Thursday afternoon November 1, 2007 at the Jamestown Hospital in Jamestown, ND.
Ardena Ernestina Presler was born November 12, 1916 on the family farm southwest of Gackle, ND, the daughter of John G. Presler and Othilda (Domdie) Presler. She attended the local rural school and grew up and worked on her parent's and neighbor's farms.
She and Andrew Elhard were married November 11, 1937 at Gackle, ND. They farmed 10 miles southwest of Gackle until 1945 when they moved to a farm northeast of Lehr, ND. In 1950 they moved to Jamestown. She worked for Peterson Biddick for 2 years dressing turkeys, chickens and poultry, and cleaning and ironing for residents. She also worked at Trinity Hospital and student residence from 1961 until 1966 when the hospital closed and started working for the Jamestown Hospital until 1984. Following the death of her husband on January 3, 1969 she continued to reside in Jamestown. She moved to the Gardenette in 1983.
She loved playing cards and games, crocheting, and spending time with friends and family. She was quick to smile, and loved listening to Polka and Old-Time music.
She is survived by her children, Eugene (Marcella) Elhard, Bismarck, ND; Janice Hanson, Jamestown, ND; Eunice (Dean) Casci, Summerville, SC; Jevon (Lori) Elhard, Jamestown, ND; 8 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 son, Delvin, 1 grandson, 4 sisters, 2 brothers, 1 in infancy, and 1 son-in-law, Earl.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. Monday November 5, 2007 at the St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Jamestown, ND, with Dr. Gary Ball-Kilbourne, pastor officiating.
The interment will be made in the Highland Home Cemetery at Jamestown, ND.
