Alvina Oster, 95, Anaheim, CA, died Friday morning April 21, 2006 at the Walnut Manor in Anaheim, CA.
Alvina Weil was born August 19, 1910 at the family farm home in Mercer County near Beulah, ND, the daughter of Jacob Weil and Katherine (Fischer) Weil. She attended the local rural school in the Knike River Distict where she received her elementary education and grew to womanhood in the vicinity.
She and Arthur Oster were married August 29, 1942 in Montana. They made their home in Waukeegan, IL where she worked at the National Envelope Company while her husband was overseas. She moved back to Hazen, ND where she worked at the Rose Hardware Store. When Arthur returned, they moved to Tule Lake, OR and in 1947 they moved to Powell, WY where they had a potato farm. In 1954 they moved to a farm in South Dakota and in 1970 they moved into Ellendale, ND where they retired. In 1994 they moved to Ashley and in 1998 they moved to Whittier, CA. Following the death of her husband in January of 1999 she continued to live in California, moving to Anaheim in October of 1999.
She was a member of the Methodist Church in Fredrick, SD, Ellendale and Ashley, ND she was very active as a church volunteer.
She is survived by 2 children, Henry (Pam) Oster, Ventura, CA, Kate Van Fleet, Los Alamitos, CA, 4 grandchildren, 1 brother, Solomon (Hulda) Weil, Billings, Mt, and 1 sister, Ida Rueb, Beulah, ND, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 1 infant daughter, 1 brother and 3 sisters.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M. Saturday May 6, 2006 in the United Methodist Presbyterian Church at Ellendale, ND, with Rev. Elden D.J. Zuern, officiating.
The burial will be made in the Ashley City Cemetery, Ashley, ND.
