Alvin L Kessel

Alvin L. Kessel, 81, Jamestown, ND died Saturday September 29, 2018 at Eventide in Jamestown, ND.

Alvin Kessel was born December 22, 1936 in McIntosh County, Ashley, ND the son of Gottfried Kessel and Emma (Pahl) Kessel. He attended the local rural school and then attended Ashley High School graduating in 1954.

Following his graduation he worked for area farmers. In September of 1961 he moved to Jamestown, ND. He was employed at the North Dakota State Hospital from 1961-1980. He then started doing yard work and shoveling snow for people. In 1987 he started for the Jamestown Public Schools as a custodian until he retired in 2006. He has continued to reside in Jamestown.

He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Jamestown, ND. He was a Sunday school teacher, usher and helped with the church van in getting the elderly to church.

Surviving is one sister, Glady Kemmet, Wishek, ND; his nephews and niece, Bruce (Marietta) Kemmet, Jerald (Cindy) Kemmet, and Sheila (John) Willoughby.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Ruth and brother, Leslie.

Funeral Service will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday in the Haut Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND.
