Alma Dorr

Alma Dorr, 86, Wishek, ND formerly of the Gackle, ND community died early Saturday morning June 9, 2007 at the Wishek Community Hospital in Wishek, ND.

Alma Rudolf was born December 14, 1920 on the family farm 17 miles SW of Wishek, ND in McIntosh County, the daughter of August Rudolf and Maria (Meidinger) Rudolf. She received her elementary education in the local rural school and grew to womanhood in the vicinity where she helped on the family farm.

She and John A. Dorr were married May 22, 1943 at the Army Chapel in San Luis Obispo, CA. After his discharge they returned to ND and made their home on the family farm SW of Gackle, ND. In 1959 they moved to a farm 3 ½ miles South of Gackle where they resided. Following the death of her husband on September 11, 1995 she moved to the Wishek Home for the Aged in Wishek, ND, where she has resided.

She was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Gackle, ND. She also was a member of the American Legion Post 250 Auxiliary in Gackle.
Alma was a great Quilter, Crotchetier and loved Gardening and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her son Douglas, Wishek, ND, 1daughter-in-law, Lu Dorr, Milnor, ND, 1 grandchild, Amanda, 4 step grandchildren, 8 great step-grandchildren, 3 sisters and 1 brother, Paul (Estella) Rudolf, Lorene Hochhalter all of Wishek, ND, Luella Vilhauer, Vancouver, WA, Mable (Richard) Justice, Alexandria, MN and one sister-in-law, Priscilla Rudolf, Wishek, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 son, Glenn, 2 sisters and 2 brothers, Esther, Erna, Helmuth and Alvin.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday June 12, 2007 in the First United Church of Christ in Gackle, ND with Rev. Timothy Blackman, officiating.

Interment will be made in the Gackle City Cemetery in Gackle, ND

Visitation 1-5 Sunday at the Funeral Home in Wishek and 10-8 Monday at the funeral home in Gackle
