Alma Buerkle, 92, Gackle, ND died Friday afternoon May 15, 2009 at the Jamestown Hospital in Jamestown, ND.
Alma Weispfenning was born November 19, 1916 at Fredonia, ND, the daughter of Christ Weispfenning and Louisa (Rath) Weispfenning. She received her elementary education in the local rural school where she grew to womanhood in the vicinity where she helped on the family farm. She worked for several farmers assisting with milking, cooking, babysitting, and shocking and other farm chores.
She and Edwin R. Buerkle were married March 3, 1940 at the farm home of her parents North of Fredonia, ND. They made their home with their parents. In 1943 they began farming near Fredonia. In 1948 they moved to the John Borth farm near Gackle. They resided there until 1949 when they purchased the Alex Ritola farm south of Gackle. In the fall of 1973 they moved into Gackle for their retirement. Following the death of Edwin on March 25, 1986 she has continued to reside in Gackle. She entered the Gackle Care Center in November of 2007. She was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gackle, ND. She also enjoyed gardening, quilting, fishing, playing pinochle and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by 3 daughters, JoAnne (Marvin) Miller, Gackle, ND; Karen (Norman E.) Miller, Gackle, ND; Marcene (Henry) Veil, Jamestown, ND; 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 1 brother, Ray Weispfenning, Sacramento, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 1 grandson, 2 brothers and 2 sisters
The funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday May 20, 2009 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gackle, ND with Rev. Russ Pollock, officiating.
The interment will be made in the Gackle Cemetery at Gackle, ND.

Prayer Service - 7:00 P.M. Tuesday @ the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gackle
