Alice Nitschke, 97, Rose Hill, KS died Monday night July 18, 2011 at the Lake Point Nursing Home in Rose Hill.
Alice Zimmerman was born June 21, 1914 at the family farm NE of Gackle, ND, the daughter of Gottlieb and Jacobina (Kerner) Zimmerman. She attended the local rural school where she received her elementary education and grew to womanhood in the vicinity.
She and Otto Ammon were married October 10, 1935 at Jamestown, ND. They made their home on a farm NE of Gackle where they lived until 1940 when they moved into Gackle. Following the death of her husband December 27, 1969, she continued to reside in Gackle.
She and William Nitschke were married June 13, 1971 at Gackle, ND. They made their home on his farm SW of Fredonia, ND until 1987 when they moved into Jamestown. Following the death of William, January 14, 1990, she continued to live in Jamestown until 2004 when she moved to Rose Hill, KS.
She is survived by 2 daughters and 1 son, DeVaris Wegner, Rose Hill, KS; Diana (Norman) Kiger, Garden Grove, CA; Dale Ammon, Wichita, KS;
13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren,
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, DeNiel, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
The graveside service will be at 10:30 A.M. Saturday July 23, 2011 at the Gackle Cemetery with Rev. Tim Blackman, officiating.
