Alice Ackerman

Alice Ackerman, 82, of Jamestown, ND died Wednesday June 29, 2016 at Eventide Hi-Acres in Jamestown surrounded by those that loved her.

Alice was born March 12, 1934 on the farm 2 miles west of Streeter, ND, the daughter of Edward and Kathryn (Kirschenmann) Bonnet. She attended school at Streeter and graduated from Streeter High School in 1953.

She and Edwin Ackerman were married October 6, 1953 in Streeter, ND. They farmed until 1966 when they moved into Streeter where she worked at the Café and Schumaker's Electric. They owned and operated the Friendly Bar for 6 years until moving to Fargo where she worked at K-Mart. She moved to Jamestown and worked at Haybusters and then at the ND State Hospital for 16 years.

She and Ken Spitzer were married December 23, 2000 and made their home in Jamestown.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and VFW.

She is survived by her husband Ken, Jamestown, ND; 2 children, Deborah (Jeremy) Krieger, West Fargo, ND; Bradley Ackerman, New Town, ND; 1 granddaughter, Aftin (Jared) Bye, Fargo, ND; 2 great grandchildren, Ainsley and Declan; 2 brothers, Garry (Maggie) Bonnet, Streeter, ND; Jim (Karen) Bonnet, Bismarck, ND; 1 sister, Betty (Bill) Snippes, Apple Valley, MN; 6 stepchildren, Gwen Leopoldt, Eden Prairie, MN; Linda Spitzer-Squires, Fargo, ND; Jody Bredahl, Jamestown, ND; Paul Spitzer, Jamestown, ND; Bill Spitzer, Kensal, ND; and Tim Spitzer, Ellendale, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister, Verna and 1 nephew, Patrick.

Funeral Service - 11:00 AM Saturday July 2, 2016 in the Concordia Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND, with Pastor Robert Hill, officiating

Burial - Streeter City Cemetery, Streeter, ND

Visitation - 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM Friday @ the funeral home in Jamestown
